Harlem Globetrotters and Playing for Kickz come together to help young athletes in need

The Boys and Girls Club will host a shoe drive on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 4:30 p.m. in Eugene.  World Famous Harlem Globetrotter Wun The Shot Versher will work together with Playing For Kickz to meet people who come by and support this cause.

Playing for Kickz collects athletic shoes through various events and shoe drives. Shoes are donated to youth locally and overseas in order to give everyone the opportunity to become the best athlete they can be.

“We love basketball and are huge fans of the Globetrotters,” said Jared Mace, executive director of Playing for Kickz. The organization is thrilled to be working in coordination with the Harlem Globetrotters to make this event a successful one.

Playing for Kickz and the Harlem Globetrotters will be giving away tickets to their upcoming show in Eugene on Feb. 22 at the Matthew Knight Arena. There will be 50 tickets up for grabs to the first 50 individuals who come by and drop off a pair of shoes.

The Shot Versher will also lead a group exercise with the children of the Boys and Girls Club of Emerald Valley located at 1545 W 22nd Ave, followed by a meet and greet with those who stop by and donate a pair of athletic shoes.
